Exercising, SSSS, making my bed, going for a long walk. Cutting the grass, tending to usual domestic chores, making meals, washing dishes, messing around on the computer, calling and being called by friends, watching TV ... and dreaming of that special someone that will make my life complete!

I like playing chess. I have yearned to be Steve McQueen playing chess with Faye Dunaway in the 'Thomas Crown Affair'. javascript:smilie(':laugh:') I retired early - from work, not life! My working life involved power station engineering, and latterly teaching. I have lived and worked in Yorkshire, Northumberland (I love Northumberland!), Scotland, and Tasmania (for 2 years). I have travelled to the US several times, and have visited many countries in Europe. I enjoy travelling, reading (usually non-fiction), listening to music, and watching TV (Horizon to Fawlty Towers). My tastes are broad and varied. I have a cheerful optimistic nature. I laugh when I can, and weep only when I must. I am lucky to have always been healthy. I am in good shape. I prefer casual wear but will dress if circumstances, or my partner, dictate. I exercise at home and walk 3-4 miles off-road every day. I love visiting any buildings that have, 'a history'. Pontefract castle is well worth a visit. I have always been a very keen photographer and I love messing around on the computer. I own my own home and live alone. I am fairly organised when it comes to the usual domestic chores. I am a fair cook and enjoy a healthy diet. I don't eat meat, but I cant give up sea food! Other than my son, who lives in Leeds, I have no family nearby. Pros: Fit & active, funny, romantic, generous, empathic. I love sitting in the garden watching the birds! Cons: Can be a 'grumpy old man' sometimes. Poor hearing. "Life is short! Break the rules; forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that made you smile!"
