At home with a bottle of wine and a book...too many drunks on the street, I go out during the week.

I like to read by which I don’t mean just the texts which have covers and pages, though those too, but any reflection of life whether it be musical, visual, natural, physical, spiritual or commonplace; that which makes mere existence into an experience worth living. I’m more comfortable sharing a conversation over a glass of whiskey around an open fire in a bothy, or a pint in a quiet pub or having friends round for dinner at home than shouting to make myself heard in a club. Picking blackberries on a forest walk of more interest than shopping for stuff I don’t need; though there are few books I couldn’t find some place for in my collection. I spend a lot of time on my own, partly through choice since I have learnt to enjoy my own company and inane conversation about mortgages and football bores me to hell; however I'd like to think that there's someone out there with whom a spark could catalyse some chemistry. New friends would be welcome and perhaps more, who knows...Searching for someone I can really talk to is rather like combing a beach for pearls: seemingly almost pointless, and yet... I'm cynical in the sense of trying to see the world and people as they really are beyond appearances, whilst trying to maintain a realistic optimism. There are magical moments in everyday life, even in adversity, and it’s our responsibility to treasure them since they are all the happiness we will ever have. I’d like to meet someone who has lived a bit, who has learnt not to judge according to first impressions and with whom few words are necessary but on occasion enjoys a good argument. Kindness and intelligence are equally attractive. I don't care for winks; an e-mail which reveals something about you as a person is almost guaranteed a response....a reasonably recent everyday photo would be appreciated too
