Hello, I'm John. Welcome to my profile – a cosy place, far away from the stark functionality of the menu system, where you can safely relax and bask in my gentle conviviality. Somewhere, I hope, not quite like any other on here... so read on! People say I'm calm, dependable, considerate, intellectual, knowledgeable, humorous, good-natured, kind-hearted and likeable. I'm also very loving and passionate, and definitely available to the right lady should I be lucky enough to encounter her. I'm trying to turn myself into something of a New Renaissance Man: my background is in science; I currently work with words; and my interests take-in art galleries, museums, theatre... and I hope to expand my horizons into serious cinema and the performing arts – anyone fancy joining me? I own over 3000 books, love many types of music and can play guitar (from classical, through rock, and into jazz). I attend evening classes for drawing and painting: progress is somewhat slow but I have fun trying and I've made some good friends. I enjoy strolling around Britain's fine cities, historic towns and picturesque villages – just revelling in wonderful architecture and soaking up the psychogeography. Furthermore, I never fail to be both inspired and humbled by our magnificent countryside in all its moods. My favourite overseas country is Italy and I speak the language very well (I'll tell you why that is, if you ask me). I don't participate in any sports as such, but I exercise daily and have a healthy BMI. I intend to join a local walking group soon. My photos were all taken in early March 2008. There are many more aspects to me, of course, but you'll have to ask to find those out. But, hey, I'm the guy who wrote the paragraphs below. Reading those should tell you more about me than any string of adjectives could. * * * * * * * * * * I'm looking for an intelligent, sensitive lady, who has the spark of femininity within her. Someone who can also be a good friend and with whom I can share common interests, as well as being introduced to her passions and hence learn something new. I'd like us to explore life's less-travelled lanes together, so we can discover more about one another and take our relationship to ever-higher levels. Imagine having dinner at a quiet candlelit Italian trattoria: delicious food, sumptuous wine and the soft background murmur of genteel conversation over romantic music. Would you charm me with the fiery glow on your delicate cheeks, enthral me with the dazzling sparkle deep within your eyes, and enchant me with the innumerable little smiles that flit momentarily across your sweet lips? Could you capture my heart with your personality, your humanity and the beauty of your soul? Would you relish the feel of my hand combing through your silky-soft hair, or thrill to the gentle caress of a fingertip as it slowly traces around the features of your face, or perhaps you'd be enraptured the feather-light touch of a sensuous kiss upon the nape of your neck? And when you shivver with delight, I'd hold you tightly against my warm body and you'd hear the pounding in my chest. If you like the thought of strolling hand-in-hand through the cooling twilight air, watching the sky turn from cerulean to deep-velvet, and scanning the heavens for the night's first star... then I'd like to hear from you!
